# Filtering

> Narrow a list to the records you need.

Filters narrow a list to the records you need. Add them as query parameters, alongside the [pagination and sorting](https://developers.stridehq.ai/api-documentation/pagination-sorting-and-filtering/pagination-and-sorting.md) parameters. Each list has its own filters, and you can use several at once: a record has to match all of them.

For example, to get the approved invoices for one creator:

```bash
curl "https://api.stridehq.ai/v1/invoices?status=approved&creator_id=cre_8f3a2c1d9b7e4f60a1b2c3d4e5f60718" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $STRIDEHQ_KEY"
```

Responses always include every field. You can't pick which fields come back.

## Filters for each list

| List            | Filters                                                                                                              |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Creators        | `status` (`onboarding`, `active` or `on_hold`), `can_be_paid` (`true` or `false`), `created_after`, `created_before` |
| Invoices        | `status`, `creator_id`, `purchase_order_id`, `payment_run_id`, `due_before`, `created_after`, `created_before`       |
| Purchase orders | `po_number`, `status` (`open` or `closed`)                                                                           |
| Payment runs    | `status`, `created_after`, `created_before`                                                                          |
| Payments        | `status`, `payment_run_id`, `creator_id`                                                                             |

Each list's page in the API reference shows the values its `status` filter takes.

Dates and times are ISO 8601. `created_after` and `created_before` take a date and time in UTC, for example `2026-11-01T00:00:00Z`. `due_before` takes a date, for example `2026-11-30`.

## Finding one creator

To find a creator by their email address or your own reference for them, use Search creators with `email` or `external_id`:

```bash
curl "https://api.stridehq.ai/v1/creators/search?external_id=talent-1042" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $STRIDEHQ_KEY"
```
