# Rate limiting

> How many requests the StrideHQ API accepts, and what to do when you go over.

Limits apply per organisation, across all your keys.

| Production                   | 25 requests a second |
| Sandbox                      | 10 requests a second |
| Requests in progress at once | 10                   |

Every response includes your limit, how many requests you have left and when the limit resets, in the `RateLimit-Limit`, `RateLimit-Remaining` and `RateLimit-Reset` headers. If you go over, you get a `429` with a `Retry-After` header. Wait, then retry with exponential backoff. If you need higher limits, contact us.
